We are all going a bit stir crazy these days. Where I live we are under a Shelter in Place order. Everyone is figuring out how to work from home and not get on each other’s nerves while we do it. We’re also trying to navigate what that means for gaming.
I would have thought that we would be board gaming non-stop but that doesn’t seem to be the case. The table has turned into a makeshift office and everyone’s nerves are on edge from 24/7 news viewing. We have big plans to dig into a few games from our Shelf of Shame (I’m looking at you Tapestry) and I am hopeful we can turn things around.
Last night, however, we managed to use Discord’s group video chat to get a campaign of D&D 5e started. That’s right, even I played. I am much more of a board gamer than an RPG player but I was desperate for a bit of fun and adventure.
Obviously, playing in person would be preferable, but this worked surprisingly well. Once we worked out the details of setup and got everything up and running, a good time was had by all – except those poor wolves….
How is everyone else managing during this crazy time? Playing as much as you’d thought? Branching out?
Stay safe.
