I have been slacking. I have spent too much of my time reading nonsense on social media, and being infuriated by the world around me that I often cannot control, that I did not meet my Goodreads Reading goal. I wasn’t really close.
So this year, new books and new Kindle in hand, I am starting over. My New Year’s resolutions this year were simple. Read more. Play more. Create more. Laugh more. Cook more. Take one step everyday towards my goals. (I am both a paper and Kindle reader, as well as Audible. I don’t entertain the idea that one is better than the other. Reading is what is important. Do it in whatever way makes you happy.
So this year’s Goodread’s Reading Challenge is a balanced 30 books. This is an easy goal but a good way to get back on track.
What are you goals for this year? Starting any new challenges?
This year is all about change. I expect many things to be manifestly different by this time next year.
Jettisoning most social media was a great decision, but mostly done last year. This year, the things I’m up to, I’m not talking about–because I find sometimes talking about doing a thing takes the place of doing the thing. So suffice it to say, I’m doing some things.
“sometimes talking about doing a thing takes the place of doing the thing”
This. Exactly this. But I like to make many, many lists that make me feel like I’ve accomplished something. At least, I am a very accomplished list maker.
